Snapshots from FIRA World Cup held in Beijing, China, 1. - 5. August 2001

World Cup was held at Science and Technology Museum in Beijing

A bit much official opening of the tournament. Speeches of some members of the organizing committee took rather long time, were in Chinese and mostly without translation. There were two words repeating again and again in all the speaches - phonetically something like "chichilaen choochoo". Although none of us understood Chinese, we all comprehended perfectly: robotic soccer!

Although the tournament was held in the grandiose building of the museum, particular matches took place in dark and narrow basement corridors. Playground was illuminated with two fluorescent tubes from one side only. The light intensity was far away from the prescribed 1000 lux, occuring shadows made the image processing very difficult

Match with one (not very strong) Korean team. Our team won 22:3

One of the interesting showpieces in the Science and Technology Museum - a giant Moebius strip

Device demonstrating the "stealth" technology - David is trying to locate and shot down the (probably american) aircraft

RoBohemia with the official FIRA flag

There was plenty of marble and gold used during the building of our hotel

Typical Beijing street

Tienanman Square. People use umbrellas not because of the rain. There is the sun shining mercilessly through the vaporous haze

All these people want to see Mao!

RoBohemia in the Forbidden City immediately before the audience with the Emperor

Lunch in China. Handling with chopsticks needs practice

There is an interesting attraction in China. They call it The Great Wall or so...

A very popular vehicle in Beijing - motor-tricycle

... and how looks it like after a few years of work

And here comes one low-budget version. Probably due to the high fuel consumption it is recommended always to have enough fuel in the tank

Pronounce three times quickly!

I know this man!
